Gathering: 11:00 am, delivery of equipment, bureaucratic requirements, latest information from the volcanological bulletin of the INV of Catania and delivery of tickets, meeting with the guide.

Itinerary: The trek does not present particular difficulties: we will walk on a ring path starting from the main floor to the west of Mount Vetore, a few hundred metres from the Great Hotel of Etna, we will cross ancient and recent lavic fields (1985 - 2001), lava sliding caves and the cave of Santa Barbara, called the “snow cave” because it allowed During the path we will have the opportunity to observe the characteristic ‘cannon’ stones, curious rock formations deriving from lava solidified around tree trunks, to immerse ourselves in wooded formations of imposing pine trees. The dialectal name of these trees is precisely ‘Zappini’, from which the path takes its name. The path will then take us near the Botanical Garden, built by the University of Catania in collaboration with Forestale to study, make known and safeguard the flora and ethnic vegetation present inside it. Leaving the Botanical Garden behind us, we will then return to the starting point, completing the route.
