Alcantara Gorges Excursion

The Gorges up to 25 m high are a canyon carved by water in the 6 KM long volcanic rock. Very interesting to visit the prismatic, pentagonal and hexagonal structures, where the rapid cooling of the lava dating back to a lava casting of 8 thousand years ago, which subsequently reached the Giardini Naxos area.

This has formed structures with a ‘catasta’, ‘prate’ and ‘organ cans’ configuration. The excursion includes the entrance into the water to enjoy the magic of the columnar basalts, the gorges, the small gorges, the ‘Gurnes’, the waterfalls and a visit to the ‘Byzantine Cuba’.
