The Gorges, which rise up to 25 meters high, are a 6 km canyon carved by water into volcanic rock. Of particular interest are the prismatic, pentagonal, and hexagonal formations, created by the rapid cooling of lava from an eruption 8,000 years ago, which later reached the area of Giardini Naxos. This has formed structures with configurations resembling “stacked logs,” “harps,” and “organ pipes.”

The excursion includes entering the water to enjoy the wonders of the columnar basalt formations, the gorges, small ravines, “Gurne” (pools), small waterfalls, and a visit to the “Byzantine Cube.”
